"One individual does not help, but he who unites with others at the right hour." - Goethe, "The Fairy Tale"
Welcome to the
ChamissoGarten
Initiative for people & nature
- non-profit, inclusive, sustainable
We make the neighbourhood bloom! - This is where people come together to promote biodiversity and a lively community in the neighbourhood. Unwind at cultural events, learn together, celebrate, garden and beekeep - diversity comes alive here! We advocate solidarity with one another and a respectful approach to nature and its resources.
We are taking a winter break!
With best wishes for a peaceful time,
Your ChamissoGarten team
The ChamissoGarten - garden, apiary and cultural space
The Garden
Our teaching and learning garden is located in the centre of the "Dichterviertel". It is lovingly designed and developed according to the principles of permaculture. In addition to fruit and vegetable cultivation, you will also find a medicinal herb garden, various rose and perennial beds and a wildflower meadow, as well as many illustrative examples of how you can support native insects, birds and amphibians in your own garden. In our small, inclusive farm, we mainly propagate plants that are typical of the region.
The garden has an accessible toilet and wheelchair-accessible raised beds for growing vegetables.
We offer project days and courses. We are particularly happy to welcome inclusive groups from day-care centres and schools.
Bee care in the ChamissoGarden is carried out according to the principles of natural beekeeping. The bees' natural way of life is taken into account:The natural honeycomb structure forms the home of every bee colony - not prefabricated, narrow honeycombs.Reproduction takes place exclusively through the natural swarming instinct - not through artificial insemination. The colony's own honey is used for overwintering - not sugar solution. Our colonies are very peaceful. This allows children and adults to get very close to the honey bees.- We can harvest a small part of the honey. This delicacy can be purchased in the garden at our cultural events. In winter, candles from our own workshop complete the offer.
If you are interested in the magical life of honey bees, visit one of our courses.
Cultural Space
The ChamissoGarden is also a venue for cultural events:
Festivals, seminars, small and large concerts, readings and puppet theatre take place in the special atmosphere of the garden. We see this garden as a place of joy, encounters, education, enjoyment and respectful co-operation.Knowledge and skills are shared in a variety of courses - it is particularly important to us that all events and courses are inclusive and barrier-free.
We look forward to your questions and to welcoming you to the ChamissoGarten!
